During his weekly Tuesday press conference, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave the latest on a couple of starters who have been sidelined with injuries.
Swinney said junior cornerback Nate Wiggins (knee) and sophomore receiver Antonio Williams (ankle) are both still day-to-day, and Swinney remains “hopeful” the Tigers will get them back for this Saturday’s game vs. Wake Forest at Death Valley.
“It was good. They looked pretty good last night,” Swinney said Tuesday in regard to Monday’s workout. “So, today will be a big day (for them from an availability standpoint) because we’ll load them up a little bit more today with some pads and kind of see how it goes. But I thought they both moved around pretty good last night. So, we’re hopeful, but nothing definite right now.”
Wiggins and Williams both did not travel for the Syracuse game last Saturday.
Wiggins left the Florida State game on Sept. 23 with a bone bruise after hyperextending his knee. The Syracuse game was the second straight game that Williams missed after he suffered an ankle injury against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 16.
