CLEMSON – Earlier this week The Clemson Insider asked Clemson students which of the remaining four games left in the season mean the most to win and why.
Below is what they said.
–Senior history major Lauren Mistretta wants the Tigers to beat the 12th-ranked Fighting Irish and reclaim some of their morale that we have lost this season. “We’ve lost to them in the past, so this week we have a score to settle. If we could beat a ranked Notre Dame team, it would show people that Clemson is still a top contender.”
–Senior education major Maggie Bell is hoping the Tigers get their revenge on the South Carolina Gamecocks in their final regular season game. “Our recent losses have come down to last minute plays or calls, as well as a high turnover margin, so winning our biggest rivalry game would do a lot to restore morale, both in the team and in the fan base.”
–Senior engineering major Grant Cohen thinks this weekend’s game against Notre Dame will be the Tigers’ biggest matchup for the remainder of the season. “Getting a big-time win at home against a top ten team can really change the course of the season.”
–Senior biology major Megan Hardy hopes Clemson can come out on top against the Gamecocks. “I was at the game last year when we lost. It was heartbreaking to lose at home, especially with it being the last home game,” Hardy admitted. “This year, we have to come back with a win on their home turf so that I can graduate in peace!”
–Senior chemistry major Lauren Ulisse considers this weekend’s game against Notre Dame as Clemson’s most pivotal game that remains. “This has definitely been a frustrating year in comparison to years past, so I think a win this Saturday would bring back the spark that they have been missing this season.”
–Senior biology major Courtney Condon wants to prove to her USC friends that Clemson is the best team in South Carolina. “Last year was so disappointing, especially considering I had three of my friends from home who go to USC staying at my apartment, and they were rubbing salt in the wound. The USC-Clemson rivalry is iconic, and a win on Thanksgiving weekend to finish out our regular season would be so awesome!”
–Senior nursing major Brigid O’Connor considers the game against UNC to be Clemson’s biggest matchup out of their remaining four games. “I want us to get the win since it will be my last home game as a senior! Plus, they are a talented team with a quarterback that is a force to be reckoned with.”
–Senior management major Harrison Rowland believes the obvious answer is beating South Carolina. “If we come out and dominate against the Gamecocks, I think it will help bring the fan base back together and give the team the confidence we need to come out hot next season.”
