CLEMSON – This week we asked Clemson students what their favorite memory is from a Clemson football game and what made it so special.
–Senior history major Lauren Mistretta’s favorite memory from a Clemson game was in 2020 when the Tigers played Boston College at home and Travis Etienne broke the all-time leading ACC rush record. “I remember it was the third quarter and everyone was waiting for it to happen. Travis broke the record and the whole stadium went wild— the players rushed on the field, everyone was cheering. It was a great moment for Clemson, and of course for Travis Etienne.”
–Senior history major Derian Richardson has seen a lot of great games in Death Valley, but the one that sticks out to him the most is the 2015 “B.Y.O.G” game against Notre Dame. “There was a hurricane coming through that weekend, and it was a lot of fun to see us come out with a win and for everyone to still show up despite the rain.”
–Senior finance major Bowen Gordon enjoyed seeing the Tigers win the ACC Championship last year in her hometown of Charlotte. “Walking out of the stadium after the game and seeing all the buildings in Charlotte lit up in Clemson colors is something I will never forget.”
–Senior management major Harrison Ward took a trip down memory lane back to his first Clemson game when he was six years old to share his favorite memory of Clemson football. “I was sitting beside the band near the hill, and I remember telling my dad I was going to go to school here one day.”
–Senior biological sciences major Megan Hardy recounted the game against Wake Forest back in 2021 as her favorite memory. She was on the hill with her friends, and it was the Tigers’ last home game of the season. She remembers it being a beautiful day out and everyone being super excited. “It was the first time since COVID that we were able to rush the field. I got to be one of the first people to gather at the paw, and it was so much fun.”
–Senior accounting major Jake Jones from Anderson remembers the 2013 Clemson vs. Georgia game like it was yesterday. “That was one of the biggest Clemson games in recent memory; we were ranked No. 8 and Georgia was ranked No. 5. I remember us winning by three, and I ran on the field on my uncle’s shoulders,” Jones said. “Clemson football was starting to become exciting, and I feel like this game in particular was the start of the Clemson dynasty. I was hooked on Clemson football and never looked back.”
–Senior health sciences major Charlie Michel also chose the Wake Forest game back in 2021 as his favorite memory. “The whole stadium was packed. It was the fullest I’ve ever seen in the student section, and we ended up beating Wake by a landslide. The energy was electrifying, and the spirit of Clemson filled the atmosphere.”
