ESPN released its latest college football power rankings following conference championship weekend, stacking up the top 25 teams in the sport.
Of course, Clemson (8-4, 4-4 ACC) was idle this past weekend, but the Tigers nonetheless moved up two spots from No. 25 to No. 23 in ESPN’s latest power rankings.
“There were some who questioned whether the Tigers would make bowl eligibility after starting the season 4-4,” ESPN’s Andrea Adelson wrote. “But a big win over Notre Dame helped Clemson close the season on a four-game winning streak and reclaim a familiar spot in the top 25. Still, this is a season that opened with ACC championship aspirations and will end without 10 or more wins for the first time since 2010. Coach Dabo Swinney has already started to make changes, announcing offensive line coach Thomas Austin and defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall will no longer be on staff. It will be interesting to see how Clemson uses the portal once it opens Dec. 4. Already, multiple players have announced they will enter the portal, including offensive lineman Mitchell Mayes and receiver Beaux Collins.”
Clemson will close out the 2023 campaign with its Gator Bowl matchup vs. Kentucky (7-5) at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., on Friday, Dec. 29 (12 p.m., ESPN).
Besides Clemson, the other ACC teams in ESPN’s latest power rankings are Florida State (No. 4), Louisville (No. 17) and NC State (No. 20).
