NFL Tiger Ruled Out for Week 14

A former Clemson defensive lineman will be sidelined for his team’s game this weekend in Week 14 of the NFL season.

On Friday, the Carolina Panthers ruled out DeShawn Williams for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints following his third consecutive missed practice.

Williams, who is dealing with a knee injury, played in the Panthers’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend but “was moving slowly after the game” per Darin Gantt of Panthers.com.

Williams played in Carolina’s first 12 games this season, starting half of those contests. The 6-foot-1, 295-pounder has posted 24 total tackles (two for loss), a sack, six quarterback hits and a pass breakup.

A product of nearby Daniel High, Williams signed with the Panthers this past offseason after starting 34 of the 46 games he played with the Denver Broncos over the last three seasons, when he tallied 113 total tackles, nine tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.

Originally an undrafted free agent, Williams has spent time with the Bengals, Dolphins, Colts and Calgary Stampeders of the CFL, to go along with three stints with the Broncos and his current stint in Carolina.

Williams had 161 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, 24 quarterback pressures, four pass breakups, one recovered fumble and two blocked kicks over 53 games (17 starts) in his career at Clemson from 2011-14.
