Clemson OL Shares Thoughts on Coaching Change

The Clemson offensive line has a new coach at the helm, and the Tigers front is getting used to the introduction of Matt Luke.

Head coach Dabo Swinney made the decision to part ways with Thomas Austin, and veteran offensive lineman Blake Miller gave the player view of the change following the second day of bowl practice.

“There’s notbing I can do about it and all I can do is give him my all every day and do the best that I can and try to be the best player that I can. It’s a business at the end of the day and whatever coach Swinney does, I’m going to roll with,” Miller said.

With coaching changes, players often have to adjust quickly and lose that familiarity they were used to. That seems to be the case with the loss of Austin, especially since he was rooted in the Clemson program, but the Tigers are now rolling with the decorated Matt Luke.

Miller has only spent two days in practice with him, but he detailed how Luke’s injection is raising the nervy for the Clemson offensive line.

“He’s a very high energy guy. I think he really brings the energy to practice and it’s infectious with everyone. I think everyone’s flying around and doing great out there and there’s some new techniques to learn…he’s told us, he wants us to go 100% and we can work on the technique after and we can go ever it in film so I really enjoy it,” Miller said

Luke is set to coach the offensive line in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, so the early connection with his players is key to make sure the transition happens quickly. For Miller, another experienced voice to learn from is invaluable and Luke gives him that luxury.
