Klubnik: Sophomore WR ‘Playing the Best I’ve Ever Seen Him’

Clemson will be without one of its top wide receivers in the Gator Bowl, as junior Beaux Collins is transferring to Notre Dame after entering the portal.

However, the Tigers’ starting quarterback, Cade Klubnik, loves what he’s seen of late from this wideout who will try to step up and fill the void at the position vacated by Collins’ departure.

Klubnik spoke with the media following Wednesday’s Gator Bowl practice and had high praise for sophomore receiver Adam Randall as No. 22 Clemson gets ready to face Kentucky on Friday at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla (12 p.m., ESPN).

“Obviously we’ve got Adam coming back and playing the spot Beaux was at, and Adam’s played a lot this year,” Klubnik said. “Just been really proud of Adam, just the way that he’s kind of stepped up and really has just fit the mold.”

The fellow sophomore Klubnik didn’t stop there, going on to say that he’s never seen Randall play better than he has in recent weeks.

“I feel like he’s playing his best football that I’ve ever seen him play in the past two years, and these past three weeks, he’s playing the best I’ve ever seen him,” Klubnik said. “So, just really proud of him.”

A former four-star and national top-125 prospect from Myrtle Beach, Randall had 10 catches for 128 yards over 12 games (one start) as a true freshman last season after a torn ACL in spring practice limited him for 2022.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder has played in all 12 of Clemson’s games this season (four starts), recording 17 receptions for 204 yards. He posted a career-high and team-high 53 receiving yards on two receptions vs. North Carolina in the Tigers’ penultimate regular season game.
