The Clemson Insider has the latest on Will Shipley’s injury. The results are in from the MRI to check Shipley’s knee injury.
TCI has confirmed that there is good news for the junior running back. We are told there was no structural damage and that surgery will not be required.
During his postgame press conference, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave an injury update on star running back Will Shipley following the 22nd-ranked Tigers’ 38-35 victory over Kentucky in Friday’s Gator Bowl.
“We’ll do an MRI. It’ll either be tomorrow or the next day,” Swinney said. “We’ll wait and see. But initial reports seem to be encouraging, but you never know until you do the MRI.”
Shipley was injured on his long kickoff return in the fourth quarter when he stumbled out of bounds and somersaulted a couple of times. The junior stayed down on the sideline before being helped away from the sideline, and he was on crutches after the game.
This season, the 5-foot-11, 210-pounder became the ninth player in school history to score 30 career touchdowns and the eighth player at Clemson ever to rush for 30 touchdowns.
