Getting to Know Clemson Softball’s Julia Knowler

CLEMSON — The Clemson Insider sat down with Clemson freshman Julia Knowler.

The Tigers’ 2024 campaign begins on Feb. 8 in Clearwater, Fla. at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. Clemson’s first 11 games will be on the road with the Tigers returning for their home opener on Friday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. against Ole Miss to kick off the Clemson Classic.

Here is an inside look at who Knowler is and her thoughts about playing for Clemson.

Where are you from? “I’m from Fort Myers, Florida.”

Tell us something about yourself. “I started playing baseball when I was probably five, and I mean obviously it transitioned into softball when I was nine and ever since then I’ve been playing softball.”

Tell us something about you that your teammates do not know. “I used to play hockey for 2-3 years when I was around six. My brother played and my family is from Canada so it’s a given you’ve got to play hockey at some point.”

What do you like about Clemson? “I love everything about Clemson. It’s just a family atmosphere, my teammates have been great, and they’ve just taken us in as freshmen, and it has been great.”

Other than softball, what is your favorite sport to watch? “Here (at Clemson) it has been the men’s soccer team and they have done well this season.”

Who is your favorite professional team? “The Toronto Blue Jays.”

Who is your favorite athlete? “My roommate (and teammate), Kylee Johnson.”

What is your goal for this season? “Just to contribute in any way I can, and I think we have a strong team this year. So, if I can help at all, I just want to be able to go as far as we can.”
