Tiger Standout Ranked Among Top Returning Players at His Position

Pro Football Focus has been previewing the 2024 college football season with a series of rankings of the top returning players at each position.

This week, PFF released its list of the top 10 returning offensive tackles in college football for 2024, and Clemson’s Blake Miller is among them.

The 6-foot-6, 310-pound rising junior checked in at No. 6.

Here’s what PFF had to say about Miller, who earned third-team All-ACC honors in 2023 following his 2022 freshman All-American campaign:

The rising junior Miller is one of the most experienced tackles on this list. He was Clemson’s starting right tackle in each of his first two seasons, and his 1,952 snaps since then are the second most of any offensive tackle in college football.

In 2022, he paced all true freshmen tackles with a 76.8 run-blocking grade. His 71.4 run-blocking grade this past season led all ACC tackles. He needs to improve as a pass protector, earning just a 62.5 career pass-blocking grade on true pass sets.

Among returning Power Five tackles, Miller is the fourth-most valuable over the past two years, according to PFF’s wins above average metric.

Miller became the first Clemson non-specialist to start every game of the season in both his freshman and sophomore years since Clelin Ferrell from 2016-17 after Ferrell redshirted in 2015. Miller also became the fourth Clemson offensive lineman under Dabo Swinney to earn All-ACC honors as an underclassman, joining Tyrone Crowder, Jackson Carman and Mitch Hyatt.

Miller is one of six players on record in Clemson history (Mitch Hyatt, Jay Guillermo, Dalton Freeman, Deshaun Watson and Tajh Boyd) with multiple 950-snap seasons and joins Hyatt one of only two Clemson offensive tackles on record back to 1986 to record multiple seasons with 950-plus snaps from scrimmage.

LSU’s Will Campbell is No. 1 in PFF’s ranking of the top returning offensive tackles, with Texas’s Kelvin Banks Jr., Southern Cal’s Jonah Monheim, Oregon’s Ajani Cornelius and West Virginia’s Wyatt Milum rounding out the top five.
