After getting a visit from Clemson at his school earlier this year, a talented Peach State prospect is making his first trip to Tiger Town this weekend.

Decatur (Ga.) High School class of 2025 defensive back Kaleb Lanier is among the recruits who will be on campus for the Clemson football program’s junior day today.

“I’m looking forward to this visit a lot,” Lanier told The Clemson Insider. “First time visiting, and I’ve heard nothing but it’s an amazing place and that I’m going to like it.”

What is Lanier, who has collected around 20 total scholarship offers, looking to get out of the visit?

“During the visit, I’m looking forward to learning more about the program,” he said. “I’m very intrigued to see the practice, how a college practice is run and its structure. Also how the DBs move around and different techniques they use.”

Lanier received a school visit from Clemson cornerbacks coach Mike Reed in late January, and the 6-foot, 165-pounder has been in frequent contact with Reed ahead of the junior day visit.

“I’ve been hearing from Coach Reed a lot,” Lanier said. “We’ve been in communication, and he’s been checking in on me and my family. He tells me I’m a good player and he wants me to visit campus, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

Lanier would love for Clemson to join his offer list, which is already a lengthy one that includes schools such as Georgia Tech, Duke, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Kentucky, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Wisconsin and Indiana.

“Clemson is a school I am interested in,” he said. “I haven’t received an offer from Clemson but, just the history of the program and the DBs Clemson has produced. Also academically Clemson is a good school. So, Clemson is definitely a school I’m interested in.”

Lanier saw action on both sides of the ball for Decatur as a junior last season, playing receiver in addition to defensive back. He posted 25 tackles and two interceptions, to go with 16 receptions for 245 yards and a touchdown.

Lanier recently earned DB MVP honors at the Under Armour NEXT Camp in Atlanta.
