Clemson is playing host to plenty of commitments and prospects for today’s spring game, and among the standout class of 2026 recruits who will be in attendance at Death Valley is this talented Lone Star State defensive back.
Duncanville (Texas) High School cornerback Braylon Edwards is making his first visit to Clemson today, and he’s been excited about it.
The Clemson Insider caught up with Edwards before his trip to Tiger Town.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to see Death Valley in person.”
Edwards has been able to communicate with Clemson assistant Mike Reed. What has the versatile 5-foot-11, 175-pound rising junior heard from the Tigers’ cornerbacks coach?
“That my skill set will fit in because I play every defensive back position because of my size,” Edwards said.
Edwards has a tie to the Tigers, as he has a good relationship with true freshman corner Corian Gipson, a former four-star recruit who committed to Clemson last July and enrolled early in January.
Edwards knows Gipson very well.
“We met on a travel select football team when I was 7 years old,” Edwards said. “We won a lot of championships, we also ran track together. I was with him when he committed to Clemson.”
Edwards earned first-team all-district honors as a sophomore last season, when he posted 86 tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions and four forced fumbles.
SMU was the first to offer Edwards last year, while Coastal Carolina and North Texas have both offered him since the calendar turned to 2024. He’s open to playing his college ball outside of the Lone Star State if the right opportunity is there, and he would love to have the chance to suit up for Dabo Swinney and the Tigers.
“I love Coach Swinney’s energy. He seems like a players’ coach. I’m looking forward to meeting him,” Edwards said. “I have high interest in the Tigers because Cori has told me great things. I could see myself there because I’m not afraid to leave Texas if it presented itself.”
