Clemson basketball has lost a third player to the transfer portal and it’s a big one.
The Clemson Insider has confirmed sophomore forward RJ Godfrey has entered the portal. He joins Jack Clark and Josh Beadle as three Tigers to do so since the end of Clemson’s deep run into the NCAA Tournament.
Godfrey took a big step in his second season, averaging 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds. He was incredibly efficient, shooting 59 percent from the floor as an interior weapon.
The Georgia native was the sixth man of the team that reached the Elite Eight. His prowess in the post grew during his time as a Tiger and it’ll now be coveted elsewhere.
With PJ Hall possibly heading to the NBA and Clark to the portal, he was expected to take on a larger role but now that’s a hole Brad Brownell will have to fill through other means.
