Former Tiger Shows Out with Impressive Highlight-Reel TD

With his highlight-reel score, a former Clemson standout provided one of the top plays — if not the top play — from Week 4 of the United Football League season.

Amari Rodgers, who plays for the Birmingham Stallions, had an impressive catch-and-run for a touchdown in his team’s 20-18 win over the D.C. Defenders on Saturday.

Former Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral hooked up with Rodgers, who spun out of a tackle and then was off to the races for the 50-yard score that tied the game at 6-6 in the second quarter.

Rodgers finished Saturday’s game with four catches for 82 yards and the touchdown. Across four UFL games for the 4-0 Stallions, he has six receptions for 111 yards.

A third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in the 2021 NFL Draft and former All-ACC performer at Clemson, Rodgers has had NFL stints with the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts along with the Packers.

Rodgers was a key figure in Clemson’s four straight College Football Playoff berths from 2017-20 and national championship in 2018. He concluded his Tiger career with 181 receptions for 2,144 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns over 55 career games (37 starts), while also recording 68 career punt returns for 529 yards (7.8 avg.) including a punt return touchdown.
