One of the top in-state OL in the 2026 class is set to return to Clemson, as Tre Aiken (Clinton) will return to campus to work out at camp on June 5.
Aiken’s first visit to Clemson came last season for the Charleston Southern game.
“That visit was, it was great,” Aiken told The Clemson Insider. “It really kicked off my recruitment. I liked it. The facilities were amazing. It was like top notch facilities. They have everything organized down to the detail. Every single detail was organized. Very minute. It was amazing, I really liked it.”
The last time Aiken visited, Matt Luke had yet to be hired, and the 6-foot-3, 285-pound recruit is ready to get in front of who he considers one of the best OL coaches in the country.
“I’ve seen his resume,” Aiken said. “His resume is pretty impressive. He’s coached at a high level for a very, very long time.”
Over the past few weeks Aiken has taken visits to South Carolina, Florida and Coastal Carolina. The Gators, Chanticleers and Kentucky have each offered. Virginia Tech offered on Thursday. However, that last Clemson visit still stands out.
“It was definitely at the top compared to the other visits I’ve taken,” Aiken said. “It was definitely at the top.”
Aiken is coming to work out at camp with one goal in mind. He wants to show the Clemson coaches that he is without question one of the top players at his position in the state.
“Really, just to impress everybody, impress the staff,” Aiken said. “Sell myself and show them what I am capable of. I want to be one of the top performers. I want to be able to perform and them say, ‘hey, that guy’s a dog. Clemson doesn’t hand out offers to just any body. To get an offer from them, you have to be an animal, a dog.”
And Aiken is hopeful that his workout will lead to an offer at some point. With the Tigers being so selective and with him being an in-state talent that actually grew up in close by, an offer from Clemson would mean a little more.
“It would mean a lot,” Aiken said. “Especially being an in-state kid, growing up watching Clemson on tv. It would mean a whole lot.”
