The praise around the Baltimore Ravens selecting former Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins has been nonstop, and a competitor seconded the notion.
When it came to No. 30, the Ravens hadn’t expected Wiggins to be there but he was. That was when head coach John Harbaugh’s squad secured its corner across from Marlon Humphrey.
It’s a shock Wiggins got that far, and an anonymous AFC executive had high praise for the pick in ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler’s report.
“He’s smooth, and even though he’s thin, he plays big,” an AFC personnel exec said. “That was the steal of the first round for me.”
There was little doubt that Wiggins would be a first round selection, and the wait was worth it as he joins a team that is ready to win a Super Bowl after a 13-4 season.
Wiggins can have a heavy impact in those efforts. With the hole filled across from Humphrey, the ferocious Ravens defense gets even better as another former Tiger is making a rise in Trenton Simpson.
Baltimore and the Kansas City Chiefs have competed at the top of the AFC as of late, and Wiggins’ impact on the rivalry will prove how big of a steal he truly was.
