Elite-Level Virginia Linemen Set to Visit Clemson

One of the top offensive linemen in the next recruiting class is set to visit Clemson for the first time next month.

4-star Carter Scruggs (Loudon County, Leesburg, Va) is set to work out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp on June 5 and the 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect is anxious for the chance to learn from offensive line coach Matt Luke.

“Looking forward to working with coach,” Scruggs told The Clemson Insider. “I am psyched to learn from him, excited to compete. I am super excited in general.”

Scruggs is still recovering from a shoulder surgery he had about three months ago, but he is still itching for the opportunity to show Luke what kind of player he is.

“I truly want to show him my athleticism,” Scruggs said. “Show him how hard I work. Just show him my skills.”

Scruggs is ranked just outside the Top 100 in the 247 Composite Rankings, and No. 8 among all interior linemen, meaning he is going to be one of the more sought-after recruits in the 2026 class.

Penn State, Georgia and Alabama are among the more than a dozen offers Scruggs already has. Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama and Georgia all got spring visits and while he has yet to visit Clemson, Scruggs already knows enough about the program to hold the Tigers in high regard, as well.

“Just an elite football program,” he said. “They develop guys pretty well.”

While the Tigers won’t start handing out 2026 offers until next month, Scruggs knows it is one he would like to add to his quickly growing list. In fact, he has some Clemson alums in his family, who he says have already been busy trying to help recruit him on the Tigers’ behalf.

“I grew up loving Clemson,” Scruggs said. “I have family members who are diehard Clemson fans. So it would mean a whole lot to me.”
