Injury Update on Will Taylor Ahead of High Point Game

CLEMSON — On Thursday, Clemson head coach Erik Bakich said outfielder Will Taylor was expected to get his cast taken off his left wrist before the Tigers’ first game of the Clemson Regional.

The Clemson Insider can tell you that is now the case, as Taylor was seen in the Clemson dugout without his cast on prior to their game against High Point.

Clemson and High Point will start at 7 p.m. (ACCN)

We can tell you the cast is off and he is wearing a white brace in its place.

Is more rehab ahead for Taylor once the cast comes off?

Bakich believes there will be a build-up period for Taylor after he sheds the cast.

“I doubt he’s going to just jump in there and start hitting again. There will probably be a build-up time,” Bakich said. “But either way, it’s one step closer to him returning to action.”

Taylor injured his left wrist (glove hand) while making a diving attempt at a foul ball against NC State on April 14. The junior broke a small bone in his left wrist and had a procedure done to fix it.

At the time of his injury, Taylor was starting to get back to the form that made him a highly regarded MLB prospect coming into the season. He had seven home runs and 19 RBIs before the injury.
