CLEMSON — Clemson’s Aidan Knaak was named NCBWA National Freshman Pitcher-of-the-Year on Tuesday. He became the second Tiger to win a national freshman-of-the-year honor, joining Seth Beer, who did it in (2016).
Knaak, a First-Team All-ACC selection, was 5-1 with a 3.35 ERA, .221 opponents’ batting average and 108 strikeouts against 29 walks in 83.1 innings pitched over 15 starts.
The righty, who only allowed 14 extra-base hits all season, led the team in starts on the mound, innings pitched and strikeouts.
Clemson had a 13-2 record in his 15 starts.
Knaak earned first-team freshman All-America honors from NCBWA as well.
