Setting the Record Straight on Bakich and the Texas Opening

CLEMSON — Earlier on Monday, Texas head baseball coach David Pierce was dismissed after eight seasons in Austin. It didn’t take long for Clemson head coach Erik Bakich’s name to be mentioned by many as a possible candidate.

The Clemson Insider has learned from a source close to the situation that Bakich has no plans to leave Clemson.

In his first two years at Clemson, Bakich has led the Tigers to two national seeds in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, and led them to their first Super Regional since 2010.

TCI was told Bakich is focused on getting Clemson back to Omaha and winning a national championship and he is extremely happy in Clemson. In his first two years with the Tigers he has posted a record of 88-35 overall. He led the Tigers to an ACC Championship in his first season and has produced back-to-back 20-win conference seasons, a first for the program since the 2005-2006 seasons.
