During ESPN’s College GameDay this morning, Pat McAfee discussed Dabo Swinney and his Clemson football team coming off its 34-3 loss to Georgia in Atlanta last Saturday.
Although that game got ugly for the Tigers against the top-ranked Bulldogs, McAfee believes Clemson can bounce back and go on to win the ACC this season.
“They took on Georgia and got blown out and everything, but Georgia’s going to do that to a lot of teams,” McAfee said. “Clemson still has an opportunity to go win the ACC.”
McAfee added that for that to happen, Clemson starting quarterback and former five-star prospect Cade Klubnik will have to step up, but he doesn’t think Swinney’s team should throw in the towel after one game.
“Now Cade Klubnik is going to have to play like we thought he was going to be able to play whenever he came into Clemson as the highest-rated dual-threat quarterback,” McAfee said.
“But if I’m Dabo Swinney, there’s been a lot of things said on the internet about how his team looks, who’s on the field and everything like that. But Georgia is going to do that to a lot of people. I don’t think Clemson should throw it in just yet.”
The 25th-ranked Tigers will try to earn their first win of the season when they take on Appalachian State in Death Valley tonight (8 p.m., ACC Network
