CLEMSON — Hard work is paying off for redshirt freshman, Stephiylan Green.
Although early in the season, the Clemson defensive tackle expressed the amount of potential he believes he has in himself. “I’m really getting a real glimpse of what I can be.” He touched on his capabilities saying, “I try to better my craft every day.”
–With just two game appearances and 13 snaps under his belt, Green ultimately redshirted his freshman year. Earlier this week, he addressed the transition from high school to collegiate ball. He explained that typically in college you’re amongst the best if not the best. “Talent meets talent” is what Green had to say about the drastic change. He explained the way he navigated through the higher intensity of college football was honing in on “fundamentals and great technique.”
–Green credits defensive tackles coach Nick Eason for his success on and off the field. He described Eason as a man who “treats everyone the same and holds everybody accountable.” Green continuing praising Eason saying, “I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. He taught me how to be a man.” He concluded it by calling Eason the “best coach in the nation.”
–Clemson’s defense was a prominent part of their win over Appalachian State. Holding the Mountaineers to just 20 points and under 400 yards. The Tigers have a bye this coming Saturday, before hosting NC State at Memorial Stadium on Sept. 21.
