During his weekly Tuesday press conference, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave the latest on the injury status of two starters ahead of Saturday’s game vs. Stanford.
Swinney provided an update on how sophomore defensive lineman Peter Woods and sophomore receiver Tyler Brown are progressing in their recovery from injuries.
“They’re doing well,” Swinney said. “They’re still day-to-day, but they’re doing well. Getting better every day.”
Woods suffered an injury early in the second quarter vs. App State on Sept. 7, when Woods was chop blocked below the knees, while Brown left early in the App State game with an ankle injury.
Both players missed last Saturday’s game vs. NC State. Woods was listed as unavailable on Clemson’s availability report prior to the game, while Brown didn’t appear on the pregame availability report despite not playing in the game.
Swinney said Brown was “close” to playing against the Wolfpack.
“I think he did pregame, we were just kind of seeing where he was,” Swinney said of Brown. “Just good for him to get out there, but he wasn’t quite ready. And Peter, we knew he wasn’t going to be available for that one based on where he is. Still day-to-day, and hopefully he’ll be ready to go this week.”
Clemson (2-1, 1-0 ACC) will conclude its current three-game homestand this Saturday, when the Tigers face Stanford on Homecoming. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.
