Swinney Provides Injury Updates on Williams, Randall

Following Wednesday’s practice, Dabo Swinney provided injury updates on a couple of key cogs in Clemson’s receiving corps.

Clemson’s head coach had a positive update on the status of Antonio Williams for Saturday’s matchup between the 15th-ranked Tigers (3-1, 2-0 ACC) and Florida State Seminoles (1-4, 1-3) at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee (7 p.m., ESPN).

“He’s good to go,” Swinney said of Williams.

Williams had four catches for 37 yards in last Saturday’s win over Stanford. He left the game after getting banged up, but has been back practicing this week.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound redshirt sophomore has started all four games for the Tigers so far this season while tallying 16 catches for 196 yards and three touchdowns. He leads the team in receptions and is tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions.

Swinney also shared the latest on Adam Randall and how he has progressed since his surgery on Sept. 23.

The junior wideout underwent a procedure to put a screw in his toe after suffering a stress fracture in his toe last month, and Swinney said he’s been “amazing” as he recovers from the surgery.

“I mean, I said something the other day, we need to like take his blood and send it off to a lab and just study him,” Swinney joked. “He’s unbelievable, how his body responds to whatever it is. He’s had lots of injuries, but how his body responds to things and heals is amazing. I mean, he’s amazing. He really is. So, he’s making a lot of great progress.”

Randall was out for the Stanford game after a strong showing the week prior in Clemson’s victory over NC State on Sept. 21, when he recorded a team-high and career-high 69 yards on a career-high-tying five receptions with his first career touchdown, despite playing with his broken toe.

Following the NC State game, Swinney said that Randall would miss multiple games with his injury, and the hope was to get him back by the Virginia game on Oct. 19.

After a rough season opener against Georgia, Randall responded with bounce-back performances vs. App State and NC State. For the season, the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder has nine catches for 100 yards and his touchdown.
