Swinney Gives Latest Updates on 2 Wide Receivers

CLEMSON — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave an update during his weekly press conference on where wide receivers Tyler Brown and Adam Randall are at as they continue to come back from injuries.

Brown suffered a high ankle sprain early in the 10th-ranked Tigers win over Appalachian State on Sept. 7. The sophomore did not play the following game against NC State and has since played sparingly in the wins over Stanford and Florida State.

“You mention Tyler Brown, he is AWOL, right? Nobody even asks me about Tyler Brown,” Swinney said. “But y’all will eventually, if we can ever get him healthy. He is going to be a great player, but everything kind of went good for him last year and he has been battling to get back.

“Hopefully, he can truly have a full week of practice this week and take another step forward.”

Randall made the trip to Florida State last Saturday after having a screw put into his toe last Monday. He underwent a procedure to put a screw in his toe after suffering a stress fracture.

The junior wide receiver has not played in Clemson’s last two games. However, he did go through warmups in Tallahassee, Fla., prior to the FSU game.

“We got Adam back, which is amazing,” Swinney said. “He was ready to go last week. I was really nervous about it, but he was adamant to play. I am glad we did not need him.”

Clemson will visit Wake Forest this Saturday (noon, ESPN) in Winston Salem, N.C.
