Hauser has Solidified Clemson’s Kicking Situation

CLEMSON – The media met with Clemson players earlier this week to rehash the past weekend’s game against Florida State and give insight into the upcoming game against Wake Forest.

Kicker Nolan Hauser talks about his big weekend against FSU that led the Tigers to their first true road victory of the season. The true freshman was 5-for-7 in field goals, with both misses being blocked. His successful kicks were from 26, 38, 25, 31 and 24 yards.

–Hauser was asked about being ACC Specialist of the week. “It is awesome it is a blessing you know to be in this opportunity especially coming in as a freshman and doing it in Week 5 is really cool. But definitely could not do it without you know the whole field goal team just having guys that are professional like Clay [Swinney] and Holden [Casperson] really helps a lot.”

–When asked about the blocked field goals last week, Hauser assured, there is nothing to stress about. “I mean nothing really. It is just on to the next. There is nothing you can do about it. I got a lot of trust in the guy’s up front, and they do their job, and I do my job and sometimes it doesn’t go our way, and you just got to bounce back.”

–Hauser was asked about who somebody was that reached out to him after his first couple of games and the impact that has had. “So, before the Stanford game [Greg] Huegel was on the sideline and I grew up watching him, so it was big to be like, ‘Woah! This is the guy I grew up watching.’ We talked for a little bit so that was really cool. So, yeah there has been a lot of people reaching out, overwhelming support. Just a lot of cool stuff to be a part of.”

After last week’s performance, Hauser is now 10-for-12 on the season, and he has made 23 of 24 extra points, which the one miss was also blocked.
