Bad news for this ACC program.
Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos is reportedly planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Castellanos stepped away from the team after getting benched.
On Tuesday, BC head coach Bill O’Brien said junior quarterback Grayson James will start for the Eagles in Saturday’s game against SMU.
Castellanos was replaced by James in the third quarter of BC’s 37-31 win over Syracuse last Saturday. Castellanos went 2-of-7 passing for 14 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while James was 5-of-6 for 51 yards and a touchdown.
This marked the second season at BC for Castellanos, who started his career at UCF in 2022. A junior, Castellanos has one year of eligibility remaining.
For the Eagles this season, Castellanos has completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 1,366 yards and 18 touchdowns with five interceptions, while he has also rushed for 194 yards and a touchdown on 93 carries.
