Swinney Asked if This DT Has Not Played Recently Due to Injury

Vic Burley hasn’t seen any game action for Clemson of late. Over the Tigers’ past three games against Virginia, Louisville and Virginia Tech, the redshirt freshman defensive tackle has played zero defensive snaps.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked about that on Wednesday evening – whether Burley has not played recently because of injury.

“Nope. Nope,” Swinney said. “Just hasn’t got in there.”

Prior to not playing in the last three games, Burley played in each of Clemson’s first six games this season and logged 74 total snaps across those contests. The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder has posted three total tackles this season.

Burley arrived at Clemson last year as a heralded former five-star prospect, a top-80 recruit nationally and the Georgia 5A Defensive Player of the Year. After enrolling early in January 2023, last year ended up being a redshirt year for Burley, as he missed all of last season with knee injuries.
