Clemson Without Star Defensive Player

PITTSBURGH — Clemson’s defense will be down one player when the 20th-ranked Tigers visit Pitt at noon at Acrisure Stadium.

The Clemson Insider has learned that linebacker Wade Woodaz will not play in the game. Clemson will likely start freshman Sammy Brown in his place.

The Tigers (7-2, 6-1 ACC) are likely going to play a 4-2-5 today. Woodaz did make the trip to Pittsburgh but came off the bus this morning limping. Sources tell TCI, Woodaz was injured in practice earlier this week and that it appears to be some kind of leg injury.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney will update us on the injury after the game.

Woodaz leads the Tigers with 65 tackles. He has started all nine games and has 6.5 tackles for loss and two sacks to go with four PBUs and nine quarterback pressures.
