CLEMSON – Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on a graduate senior on Sunday.
Safety R.J. Mickens left the victory in the fourth quarter and did not return.
“He was in here (Sunday),” Swinney said during his weekly Zoom call on Sunday. “He is a little banged up and will be day-to-day.”
Mickens has been a staple on the backend of the Clemson defense and despite leaving early was second on team with 10 tackles against the Panthers. he also added 2.5 tackles for loss and had one pass breakup.
“Really proud of him,” Swinney added. “He’s playing outstanding. He had some great extra-effort plays.”
“He’s playing really smart, is where he’s supposed to be. He’s making a lot of tackles. I think that’s his most production points that he’s had.”
For the season, Mickens has 53 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and one interception.
“But he’s a little banged up right now,” Swinney said. “Hopefully he’ll bounce back quick.”
