With sophomore receiver Tyler Brown dealing with an ankle injury and having appeared in just four games, the coaching staff at Clemson has been thinking about the idea of redshirting the freshman All-American.
On Tuesday during his weekly press conference, Dabo Swinney provided the latest update, and it appears that decision has been made.
“He won’t be back until after the South Carolina game,” Swinney said. “He will be ready for postseason.”
By rule, Brown is still able to play in any postseason games and maintain his redshirt.
The local product out of Greenville made an instant impact for Clemson during his freshman campaign, leading the Tigers with 52 receptions for 531 yards with four touchdowns. It was the third time in six years a true freshman led the team in receiving yards.
Redshirting this season means Brown would still have three more years of eligibility remaining.
