Extra Year Special for Clemson Lineman

CLEMSON – After coming back for an extra year due to COVID, Trent Howard will be recognized as a senior on Saturday against The Citadel before No. 17 Clemson comes down the hill at Memorial Stadium.

Howard, who has played just about everywhere on the offensive line, has been with the Tigers for five seasons. Before 2024, he appeared in 23 total games with three of those being starts. This season, Howard has appeared in eight of the 10 games with two games left in the regular season.

Being able to return to Clemson for an extra year, the graduate senior expressed that he is “really thankful for the opportunity to come back.” The ability to return is not something that he takes for granted.

Howard has the talent to play any position on the offensive line. He said his whole career he has taken reps at all five positions.

“I consider myself a more intelligent player as far as knowing what to do at different position,” he said. “Left tackle on down to right tackle, whatever is needed, I’m going to do whatever they ask.”

The graduate senior is thankful he can contribute wherever he is needed.

The offensive lineman said this is the closest team he has been a part of during his time with the Tigers. He said one of the biggest highlights of this season is everyone “fighting for each other.” That includes offense, defense and special teams, everyone plays for the person beside them.
