Tait Reynolds’ first experience taking in a game at Clemson was a memorable one.
After committing to the Tigers back in the summer, the 4-star quarterback, out of Queen Creek in Arizona, made the trek to Clemson for the rivalry matchup against South Carolina. While the result wasn’t what he’d hoped for, the environment inside Death Valley absolutely lived up to his expectations.
“100% for sure,” Reynolds told The Clemson Insider. “I already committed there so I’ve kind of already seen everything, but the environment was incredible. And it was just a lot of fun seeing all the coaches and players again.”
Reynolds is a two-sport star, excelling in both baseball and football. While some have wondered whether he will choose the professional baseball route after high school, Reynolds insists the plan is to play football for the Tigers.
“I’m dead set on it. I’m coming to play at Clemson,” Reynolds said. “I am super excited to get to work with Coach (Garret) Riley and Coach (Dabo) Swinney. I love football. For sure, I’m coming to play.”
Reynolds is also planning to play baseball at Clemson. As a quarterback, and with spring practice overlapping with the baseball season, he knows it will be a challenge. However, it is one he is up for.
“It’s definitely gonna be a challenge,” Reynolds said. “But hey, I’m all for challenges that are gonna make you better. I’ve never really thought twice about it, because my dad did it. He wasn’t a quarterback, but he played both.”
Reynolds has been in contact with former Clemson standout Kyle Parker, who also was a starting quarterback at Clemson and star baseball player. Parker’s message to Reynolds was crystal clear.
“I’ve had people like Kyle Parker text me, and there’s some great examples that went to Clemson that played ball too,” Reynolds said. “To be offered to have the opportunity to take after them, I feel like I can do it. He just told me congratulations on everything, and don’t let anybody tell you what you can’t do. Just go out there and do your thing.”
After a stellar junior campaign, Reynolds was tabbed as the Player of the Year in the state of Arizona by the Arizona Cardinals. He completed 62% of his passes for 2,238 yards with 22 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He added another 1,426 yards via his legs with 19 touchdown runs. The blue-chip talent averaged more than 100 rushing yards per game.
Reynolds plans to return to Clemson on January 25 for the Elite Retreat, one of the Tigers’ biggest recruiting events of the year. Along with QB commit Brock Bradley and CB commit Shavar Young Jr., Reynolds plans to do his part to help Clemson put together a strong 2026 recruiting class.
“We just kind of know the guys that are out there, and if they show interest in Clemson, we go after them,” Reynolds said. And we kind of know what we’re looking for. And it’s great to have Brock and Shavar with us. So it’s pretty awesome.”
Reynolds’ pitch to potential recruits is pretty simple. He knows what he sees in Clemson. What attracted him to the program in the first place, and that’s what he tries to get across to potential targets.
“I just just tell them how I feel,” Reynolds said. “I know it’s the right place to be, and I just want them to see it the way I see it.”
