Clemson Top RB Target Commits Elsewhere

Clemson has offered just one running back in the 2026 recruiting class and on Saturday he committed elsewhere.

4-star in-state back Jaylen McGill (Mountainview Prep) announced a commitment to Rutgers. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound recruit made the announcement after a visit to Rutgers.

McGill has been a frequent visitor at Clemson, picking up an offer back in September.

McGill had an impressive junior season in which he averaged 10.2 yards per carry and rushed for 24 touchdowns. He carried 163 times for 1,658 yards. He also caught 22 passes for 379 yards and seven scores.

Where the Tigers turn next is yet to be determined but one name worth monitoring is 3-star CJ Givers out of Fellowship Christian (Roswell, GA). Givers has visited on multiple occasions and running backs coach C.J. Spiller paid him a visit last week.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound back has seen his recruitment heat of late, with Ole Miss and Stanford offering last week. Givers already held offers from Georgia Tech, NC State, SMU and Indiana, among others. He recently told TCI he hopes to visit Clemson at some point in the spring.
