TCI Recruiting Roundup: 5-Star Gets Visit from Reed, Multiple Staffs Visit with Clemson Commit

With the contact period set to end on February 1, members of the Clemson coaching staff are out in full force this week.

Cornerbacks coach Mike Reed was in Ohio visiting with 5-star CB Elbert Hill (Archbishop Hoban, Akron). Hill is the top corner in the 2026 class per the 247 Composite Rankings and also ranks No. 21 overall.

The 5-foot-10 prospect has more than 30 offers, with Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State thought to be a few of the top contenders currently. Clemson has yet to offer, but that would obviously change if Reed could get Hill on campus for a visit this spring.

Offensive line coach Matt Luke continues to rack up frequent flyer miles. Tuesday, he and head coach Dabo Swinney were in Florida visiting with 4-star OL target Chancellor Barclay (First Academy, Orlando).

Not only has Barclay confirmed to The Clemson Insider that he plans to attend the Elite Retreat on March 8, but he’s also announced plans to be on hand for the big official visit weekend from May 30 to June 1. He has also set officials to Georgia, Florida and Oklahoma.

Luke and Swinney also made it over to Pace (Milton, FL) to visit with 4-star Grant Wise. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound offensive linemen picked up one of the Tigers’ opening offers last June and has already confirmed his plans to be at the Elite Retreat.

Wise recently released a Top 12 of Clemson, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Miami, Oregon, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Florida, Texas A&M and Ohio State.

Late last week, Luke was in to see 4-star OL Drew Evers (Flower Mound, TX). On Monday, offensive coordinator Garrett Riley made the trip out to Texas to meet with Evers.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound recruit plans to visit at some point this spring, but has yet to iron out a specific date.

“I’m going to a spring practice and coordinating that with them now,” Evers told TCI. “Really looking forward to it.”

Evers currently has more than 30 offers but has yet to be offered by Clemson. Alabama, Georgia, Texas, TCU, Tennessee, Florida State and Texas A&M are just a few to have already pulled the trigger.

Last Friday, Swinney along with receivers coach Tyler Grisham, were in Alabama to check in on 4-star WR target Cederian Morgan (Benjamin Russell, Alexander City).

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound wideout nabbed an offer after an impressive showing at camp last June and currently has more than two dozen total. Alabama, Auburn and Ohio State are three of the schools, along with Clemson, pushing the hardest.

“They like to take shots to their big receivers, they throw the ball,” Morgan told TCI in a previous interview. “They use their big receivers, use their size as an advantage and they like to take shots. So I feel like that would be a great place for me. Because I am a big receiver and I fit their plans.”

We will end this edition with news of some visits of a different kind. Current Clemson 4-star CB commit Shavar Young Jr. (Webb School, Knoxville) has been the recipient of several visits from coaching staffs across the country.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and defensive backs coach Chris Hampton have checked in on the blue-chip prospect.

SMU co-defensive coordinator Rickey Hunley Jr. has also stopped in to see Young, as has LaMar Morgan, the secondary coach at Michigan. Virginia Tech assistant Shawn Quinn had an in-home visit with Young and his parents.

The talented defensive back has been committed to the Tigers since August, with Rivals ranking him No. 170 overall in the 2026 class.

Swinney and Reed were also in to see Young, taking in one of his basketball games.
