Clemson Rises in Coaches Poll, Still Unranked in AP Poll

The Clemson men’s basketball team has moved up in one poll, while staying unranked in another.

The Tigers (18-4, 10-1 ACC) moved up four spots to No. 21 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, released Monday.

It marks the third time Brad Brownell’s squad has been ranked in the Coaches Poll this season, as the Tigers were ranked No. 16 on Dec. 9, then re-entered the Coaches Poll at No. 25 last week.

As for the latest AP Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Poll released Monday, Clemson remains outside of the Top 25, though the Tigers received 182 votes in that poll – more than any other unranked teams receiving votes. Saint Mary’s (136) received the second-most votes.

Clemson has won nine of its last 10 games and has six straight wins in ACC play, most recently a 68-58 victory at NC State on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh.

The Tigers’ 10-1 start in the ACC ties a program record with Brownell’s 2022-23 team. Saturday’s win over the Wolfpack marked the 450th of Brownell’s career.

Clemson returns to the court on Tuesday when it hosts Georgia Tech at 9 p.m. on ACC Network.

Clemson’s six consecutive ACC wins are tied for the third-longest win streak in Clemson history during league play. The Tigers can tie the school record (1966-67 and 2022-23) of seven with a win Tuesday vs. Georgia Tech.

Clemson is currently in second place in the ACC standings behind only Duke (11-0 ACC, 19-2 overall). Following Tuesday’s game vs. Georgia Tech, the Tigers host the Blue Devils (No. 2 AP/Coaches Poll) at Littlejohn Coliseum this Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN).
