This professional football team is welcoming back a former Clemson wide receiver.
Deon Cain is returning to the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions, as he has re-signed with the team for the 2025 UFL season.
This marks Cain’s third stint with the Stallions after he helped them win the 2024 UFL Championship and the 2023 USFL Championship.
The former All-ACC selection caught three touchdown passes en route to USFL Championship Game MVP honors back in July 2023.
In 2024, Cain tallied 33 receptions, 436 receiving yards, three receiving touchdowns and 726 all-purpose yards for the Stallions.
Back on Oct. 31 of last year, the Buffalo Bills signed Cain to their practice squad before later cutting him in early December. He was on the Bills’ 2024 preseason roster and posted three receptions for 28 yards against the Carolina Panthers.
A 2018 sixth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, Cain’s most recent NFL regular season playing time came in 2020 when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Along with the Bills, Colts and Steelers, Cain has spent time with the Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles in his NFL career. He has appeared in 15 career games (six starts) and caught nine passes for 124 yards in his NFL career.
Cain hauled in 130 receptions for 2,040 yards and 20 touchdowns over 42 games (14 starts) in his career at Clemson from 2015-17. The Tampa, Fla., native had at least one reception in each of the last 37 games he played.
Cain burst onto the scene as one of Clemson’s biggest downfield threats as a true freshman in 2015, and he was a third-team All-ACC honoree in his final year as a Tiger in 2017, when he recorded 58 receptions for 734 yards and six touchdowns over 14 games.
Cain now re-joins a Stallions roster that also includes former Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich and former Clemson wide receivers Joseph Ngata and Amari Rodgers.
