CLEMSON — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave the latest update on where Adam Randall will be working this spring.
In the Tigers’ loss to Texas in the College Football Playoff last season, Randall made his debut at running back, where he ripped off a 44-yard run in the second quarter and finished the game as Clemson’s leading rusher.
Randle did well enough at running back where the coaching staff has decided to see how the wide receiver will do with a whole spring to learn the position. Of course, the Tigers have to replace All-ACC running back Phil Mafah, who ran for more than 1,100 yards last season.
“We started that process in the playoff. Where does that go? We are going to find out,” Swinney said. “We have to figure that out. We are excited about that.
“He has really been working hard at that transition. It is going to be a fun spring from that standpoint. There are a lot of possibilities.”
Randall has spent the last three seasons at wide receiver. He became a hero in Clemson lore after returning a kickoff 41 yards in the final 30 seconds to help put the Tigers in position to win last year’s ACC Championship Game.
Clemson, of course, won the game two plays later when kicker Nolan Hauser made a 56-yard field goal as time expired.
