TCI Recruiting Roundup: Update on Four-Star RB Carsyn Baker

A highly touted running back has been forced to push his Clemson visit back.

Four-star back Carsyn Baker (Langston Hughes, Fairburn, GA) was planning to make his very first visit to Clemson for the Elite Retreat on March 8. However, Baker tells The Clemson Insider he’s had to move the date up due to a track meet scheduled for the same weekend.

The blue-chip talent will now visit Monday, March 3, and will take in a spring practice. Baker will be accompanied on the visit by his mother.

“I really want to see how coach Spiller gets down with the running backs, how he does it,” Baker told TCI recently. “Get around with the rest of the coaching staff and keep building the relationship. Looking at the campus because I have never been. Talk to a couple of players and see how it is out there.”

Currently, only one running back in the 2026 class holds an offer from the Tigers. Four-star in-state back Jaylen McGill picked up an offer during the season while on an unofficial visit. McGill ultimately committed to Rutgers earlier this year before decommitting a short time later. Committed or not, Clemson has moved on, even if the staff has yet to hand out a new offer.

Baker is certainly a candidate for an offer once he gets to campus for his first visit. Running backs coach C.J. Spiller visited Baker twice during the contact period.

The 6-foot-0, 200-pound back has 50 offers, including Texas A&M, Ohio State, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina, to name just a few.

Baker rushed for 1,282 yards as a junior with 13 touchdowns. He had six games with more than 100 yards on the ground and averaged 8.8 yards per carry. Rivals ranks him No. 169 overall and No. 10 among all running backs.
