Wesco Looking to Add ‘Sauce’ to His Game in 2025

After turning in a strong freshman campaign at Clemson, Bryant Wesco is looking for more in year two.

The former five-star recruit burst onto the scene in the Tigers’ second game of the 2024 season, a blowout win over App State. Wesco made his first career start against the Mountaineers, catching a 76-yard touchdown pass from Cade Klubnik on the third play from scrimmage. He finished the blowout win with three catches for 130 yards.

Wesco would go on to turn in one of the best seasons by a freshman wideout. His 708 receiving yards were fourth-best among all freshmen nationally and he would go on to earn freshman All-American honors.

Now, Wesco looks to build on the wildly successful first season as he tries to avoid any kind of sophomore slump.

“Knowing to take the next step,” Wesco said. “Last year, during the spring, I was just trying to learn all the plays. Learn formations, coverages, all that. Initiate into the offense. Now, this year, I got confidence that I know the plays, and know what’s going to happen whenever they call the plays. I am just trying to work on adding some sauce to my game.”

And what exactly does he mean by adding sauce to his game?

“Just adding more confidence, adding a little bit of my own twist to the game,” Wesco added. “Instead of just being focused on what my job is, I can now add some flair to it, being more stylish about it.”

Wesco’s desire to be better in 2025 will be helped by a wide receiver room that is as deep as its been in quite some time. With Antonio Williams deciding to put off the NFL for a year and return for his senior season, Tyler Brown back to full health and veteran Tristan Smith added via the portal, Wesco will have plenty of help. Not to mention, T.J. Moore, who like Wesco, now has a season of experience under his belt.

“Every day, it is a battle for a starting position, that is how much we’ve got,” Wesco said. “All the way from the first group to the third group, it’s a battle constantly. The third group guys are making plays on the first group guys. That just shows how much depth we got. That is going to be a great thing for us. We can rotate guys and have stamina for days.”
