Quarterback Ben Musser made his return to Clemson last weekend.
The 2027 signal caller (Prince Avenure Christian, Bogart, GA) was on hand for the Underclass Experience last Saturday. He also worked out at camp last summer and visited for the Louisville game back in the fall.
“Dabo is a great person,” Musser said. “Coach. Swinney is an amazing person. I love the way that he’s built a culture around Clemson. Developing who you are as a person along with your football journey. Focused on who you are, becoming a man and how you treat others. Clemson is definitely somewhere I would love to go to school.”
One day after his Clemson visit, , Musser was competing at an Elite 11 event.
“It was good,” Musser told The Clemson Insider. “Coaches were great. Got to spin around with a bunch of guys I know. Just getting better working every day. If you throw a bad ball, just come back and throw a good one the next time up.”
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound recruit only played half of the season as a sophomore, completing 125-of-207 for 1,472 yards with 15 touchdown passes. He added another 768 rushing yards, with eight scoring runs.
With his kind of dual-threat ability, Musser sees himself as a good fit in offensive coordinator Garrett Riley’s offense.
“I feel like I fit well in his scheme,” Musser added. “Run some PA sometimes, throw a deep ball, get the quarterback moving. It’s really a quarterback-centric offense; air raid kind of style. I feel like I would love playing in that kind of offense one day.”
And as much as he likes Riley’s scheme, he likes Riley the person equally as much.
“He’s a good guy,” said Musser. “Everybody coach Swinney hires is just a good person. They’re just nice people. And he knows ball. That’s the main thing about him. He’s really smart, and he knows how to pick apart a defense, no matter who they’re playing.”
Musser’s recruitment is really just getting started. More offers are likely to come as he hits more camps this summer and gets into his junior season.
Cincinnati, Nebraska and Vanderbilt have already offered. Musser plans to visit App State this weekend, and he still plans to hit Vanderbilt and Cincinnati later this month. He was at Alabama in March and he also plans to be back at camp in Clemson this summer.
At some point in his journey, he’s hoping that coveted Clemson offer comes along.
“I would probably commit on the spot honestly,” Musser said. “Obviously, I want to win a national championship one day. And it’s more about the people, it’s a community. It’s a really good community at Clemson. They’re a good ball club. They know how to win big-time games in big-time moments.”
