Why David Pollack Is ‘So High on Clemson’ in 2025

David Pollack is a fan of Clemson’s wide receiver unit, and it’s a big reason why he’s so optimistic about the Tigers entering the 2025 season.

In an episode of See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack, the ex-ESPN analyst and former Georgia/NFL linebacker touched on why he loves what Clemson has at the receiver position, paired with a star quarterback in Cade Klubnik and an experienced group up front on the offensive line.

“Clemson has variety, and they’ve got three guys that can do it,” Pollack said of the receivers. “I mean, I think they’ve got a trio – that’s why I’m so high on Clemson next year. This feels like – I’m not looking at their line of scrimmage on the O-line and going, ‘Man, a bunch of maulers, so much better.’ That’s what they’ve been. But when they were great – really good quarterback play, which they have. Really good receivers that they can spread it out to, which they haven’t had in a long time.

“So, experience in that QB spot, a better offensive line, experience in the system. This offense and this receiving corps is going to be an absolute handful week in and week out.”

Clemson certainly has plenty of talent at receiver. Along with the trio Pollack alluded to – Antonio Williams, T.J. Moore and Bryant Wesco Jr. – Clemson’s receiver corps features guys like Tyler Brown, a 2023 freshman All-American who is healthy again after missing most of last season due to injury, and Tristan Smith, who transferred to Clemson after a stellar 2024 season at Southeast Missouri State.

Back in February, Pollack — a College Football Hall of Famer, three-time All-American and first-round NFL draft pick — gave his top five teams in college football going into the 2025 campaign, and he put Clemson at No. 4, ahead of Penn State at No. 5.

He put Oregon at No. 3, reigning national champion Ohio State at No. 2, and Texas, which beat Clemson 38-24 in the 2024 College Football Playoff first-round matchup in Austin, as his No. 1 team entering 2025.
