Beau Jandreau recently discovered that things are indeed different in the South.
The 2026 three-star linebacker (Hamilton, Chandler, AZ) recently made the trek east to make his very first visit to Clemson, and one of his biggest takeaways was how different Dabo Swinney’s program is.
“I love it down there. Down south is different,” Jandreau told The Clemson Insider. “It was good. I just liked the intensity of the defensive staff. The facilities are next-level. I loved it. The intensity they had just during the walk-through, it was more like a normal practice.”
Jandreau had his first opportunity to meet Tom Allen, and the energy the Tigers’ new defensive coordinator brings to the field stood out.
“He’s great just to talk to,” Jandreau said. “He and my family were chopping it up. He was great people. He definitely flipped the switch when it was time to get to work in that meeting room. He is a cool dude, but when it is time to get to work, he flips the switch and gets to game mode.”
The visit also afforded Jandreau the chance to meet with new linebackers coach Ben Boulware.
“He is a younger coach, so me and him relate to a lot of things,” Jandreau said. “He has been through the process, he has done it all. So it was cool talking to him. I feel like he knows a lot. Watching him through indy and watching him coach the guys through practice was cool to see.”
Oklahoma, Southern Cal, Oregon, Washinton and Notre Dame are some of the schools Jandreau said are currently recruiting him the hardest. Some of his other offers include Arizona, Missouri, Nebraska and Boise State.
“I think Clemson ran a better practice compared to the schools down here,” Jandreau added. “But we have yet to compare them to the other schools across the country.”
While Clemson has yet to offer, Jandreau is hopeful to add one from the Tigers at some point in the coming months.
“They offer the least amount of people compared to anybody in the country,” Jandreau said. “So that would mean a lot. especially for a linebacker. They have been a school that sends linebackers to the league, and that is what I am looking for.”
