Brad Brownell had landed another player out of the portal.
The Clemson Insider has confirmed UAB transfer guard Efrem Johnson has committed to Clemson, becoming the fourth player the Tigers have landed out of the portal. He is fresh off a visit to campus.
Johnson, who has spent his entire career with the Blazers, will have one season of eligibility remaining. He entered the portal on April 1.
Last season, Johnson appeared in 37 games with 21 starts, playing 28 minutes per contest. He averaged 8.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Johnson is a career 34.4% three-point shooter.
The 6-foot-4 guard joins big men Nick Davidson, RJ Godfrey and Carter Welling as players the Tigers have landed in the transfer portal since the season ended.
Chase Hunter, Ian Scheffelin and Viktor Lakhin all exhausted eligibility after last season, and Clemson lost five more scholarship players to the portal, meaning Brownell has been busy trying to retool his roster.
Senior Dillon Hunter is the only returning guard from last season with any real experience. Ace Buckner will be back after redshirting and Brownell signed two guards in the most recent signing class, including four-star Zac Foster. Landing Johnson gives the Tigers another veteran player to pair with Hunter in the backcourt.
