Making the rounds on the recruiting trail this week, Clemson coach Mike Reed made a stop at Callaway High School in Hogansville, Ga., to see talented 2020 wide receiver Michael Robertson.

The Clemson Insider chatted with Robertson, a freshman who earned a rare early offer from Clemson in mid-September.

“Coach Reed came to see me (Thursday),” Robertson told TCI.

Robertson also received offers from Tennessee and California, where his nephew and former five-star receiver Demetris Robertson plays, in September. Georgia was first to pull the trigger in January.

Robertson, who was offered by Clemson on Sept. 15, first visited Clemson in October for the Tigers’ game against N.C. State.

Robertson said Reed wants to get him back on campus in January.

“He wants me back up during Junior Day,” Robertson said.

An exciting playmaker and polished player for his age, Robertson helped lead Callaway to a 13-1 record and appearance in the Georgia Class AA semifinals this season.

“My season went well,” Robertson said. “Some things I could have improved on. I felt like I did well on my blocking and running my routes. I need to improve on my separation.”

Robertson attended games at Alabama, Auburn and Georgia this season, as well.

Robertson doesn’t have any favorites this early in his recruiting process, but Clemson’s history of success at the receiver position stands out to him.

“It plays a lot into me considering them,” Robertson told TCI in October after his visit. “Like (DeAndre) Hopkins and (Sammy) Watkins. I like their style.”
