2020 receiver getting plenty of early offers

With Clemson on the recruiting trail for 2018 and 2019, the class of 2020 is somewhat of a distant quest right now.

Freshmen in high school are hit or miss because they have so much room to develop before they even consider which college to attend, making offers somewhat difficult to land at that stage in the game.

That’s what makes Michael Robertson’s Clemson offer so significant.

The 5-foot-11 185-pound prospect from Callaway (Ga.) High School has caught the eye of some big schools early in his recruitment, and it should only ramp up from here.

Robertson said while he hasn’t been in contact with Clemson since they came to his school at the beginning of his school year, he plans on visiting to see the new football facility this summer.

He already has offers from nine schools, including Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and LSU.

Robertson told The Clemson Insider he visited Florida State and Georgia Tech so far. He does not have any leaders yet but said the visits went very well.

“I liked the environment of those schools,” he said. “I like how they are really getting into the educational side instead of just sports.”

He said he plans on taking visits to UCF and Florida in the near future.

Robertson also said Florida State, Stanford and Georgia Tech are currently showing the most interest in him.

Still Robertson Jr. said there is plenty to like about Clemson that he will consider throughout his recruitment.

“The coaches seem like they are genuine and will help you out,” said Robertson. “Guys like Deshuan (Watson) graduate in three years.”

While he is looking for a good home for his four years of college, Robertson said he is currently looking at schools based on “all education.”

As he continues to develop his game, Robertson said there is one main area he looks to improve.

“I’m looking to get more experience at receiver so I can improve on my route running,” he said.

Overall, Robertson believes he can provide Clemson with an all-around player, just like a certain big name in this year’s draft.

“Versatility,” he said, “kind of what Jabril Peppers did for Michigan.”
