Chantz Williams has an uncommon amount of talent for a 15-year-old high school football player, and because of it, colleges are already giving him a lot to think about.

Williams, a four-star defensive end in the class of 2020 from Oakleaf High in Orange Park, Fla., holds close to a dozen scholarship offers as a sophomore. Prominent programs such as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Tennessee haven’t wasted any time getting involved in his recruitment.

Williams (6-4, 212) will only see his list of college options grow in the coming months and years, so he’s doing his homework and looking to find the right fit for him.

“The most important thing for me is what school is going to help me become better as a football player and person,” Williams told TCI.

Williams sees those traits in Clemson, one of the schools showing early interest in him.

He has gotten a feel for what the program is like having competed at the Dabo Swinney Camp each of the last two years.

“I enjoyed the passion each coach had when coaching me up,” Williams said. “I could tell they really cared about making me a better football player.”

As a freshman last season, Williams logged a whopping 30 tackles for loss and four sacks.

While Williams doesn’t yet have an offer from Clemson this early in his recruiting process, he appears a strong candidate to receive one in the future.

“The coaches really emphasized (at the camp) how fast I am and quick off the ball I am, and to use it to my advantage,” Williams said.

Should that offer eventually be extended, Williams said it would be a big one.

“It would mean a lot to me that a big-time program like Clemson sees potential in me to actually play at their school and that I could benefit them,” he said.

Williams posted seven tackles and a sack in his team’s season opener on Friday night. He is ranked as a top-10 weak-side defensive end and top-100 overall prospect in his class.
