The Florida State football program got some bad portal news on Monday with the departure of a young pass catcher who possesses a lot of potential.
The Seminoles are losing talented receiver Vandrevius Jacobs. The redshirt freshman has entered the transfer portal, per multiple reports.
A former four-star prospect in the 2023 class, Jacobs was ranked as high as a top-25 receiver nationally and was a top-175 overall national prospect coming out of Vero Beach (Fla.) High School, where he tallied 149 catches for 2,320 yards and 31 touchdowns in two seasons. He averaged 105.5 yards per game his senior year, catching 100 passes for 1,511 yards and 21 touchdowns.
In his first year at FSU in 2023, Jacobs battled injuries over the course of the season, when he appeared in five games and recorded three receptions for 60 yards and one touchdown while redshirting. He made his college debut and caught a 13-yard touchdown on his first college reception in a 66-13 win vs. Southern Miss.
The 6-foot, 176-pounder led the Seminoles in receiving during their Garnet & Gold Spring Showcase this year, hauling in two passes for 61 yards and a touchdown, per NoleGameday.
