CLEMSON- The Tigers have had some success with two-sport stars over the years, and now there is another one on the recruiting radar.
4-star QB Tait Reynolds (Queen Creek, Az) spent a better part of last week on campus at Clemson. The 2026 prospect worked out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp on Wednesday and then again on Friday, before arriving back home out west on Sunday in time to catch the second half of the Tigers’ heartbreaking loss to Florida in the Super Regional.
Reynolds is currently committed to play baseball at Arizona State, but with numerous schools now showing heavy interest in his abilities as a quarterback, the 6-foot-4, 200-plus pound recruit is now weighing his options when it comes to playing both at the next level.
His performance at camp earned him one of the hard to get offers at Clemson, and Reynolds said the Tigers are currently leading the way with Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Miami also in the mix.
“They’re definitely the front runner for me,” Reynolds told The Clemson Insider.
During the evaluation period, offensive coordinator Garrett Riley made a stop by Reynolds’ high school and the quarterback’s visit last week was his first ever to Clemson.
“It was awesome,” Reynolds said. “I would say they have cool facilities and everything, but it’s just the people there. It’s just a whole lot of love. Everybody’s family. People you want to be around and a whole lot of energy. It’s just awesome to be around all those people. And the environment was just amazing.”
Reynolds admits he still has some developing to do, but despite that fact, his workouts were extremely impressive, and Riley and the rest of the staff gave him a lot of great feedback.
“They just loved how I played and what kind of person I am especially,” Reynolds said. “They really liked I was more of just an athlete. Like I’m not very polished. I don’t really go to QB coaches, like a lot of these guys do. So they liked all that stuff.”
With the amount of interest that Clemson has been showing, Reynolds thought an offer could materialize at some point after he got to campus.
“I thought it was going to, that’s why we came out there,” he said. “Because they came out to our school first. So I was super pumped they were interested. So I was like, ‘Man, I gotta get out there.’ And it was even better than what I expected.”
The offer came directly from Swinney, making for a very memorable experience.
“I was driving around with coach Riley, kind of looking at the youth camps and just hanging out with him talking,” Reynolds said. “We drove on and into the end of the stadium, and coach Swinney was out there, and he kind of caught me off guard. He said something about me always smiling or something and then he said ‘so you like to smile? Would you smile even bigger if I gave you an offer to Clemson?’ It was really cool how he said it and everything. I was super pumped.”
